About the project

Sudan Human Rights Information Gateway (SHRIG) is a project initiated by the Khartoum-based Society Studies Centre (SSC). The aims of the project are to disseminate information pertaining to human rights progress and violations in Sudan.

This takes the form of news items from different local sources, reporting on the activities initiated by local and international NGOs in Sudan, and initiatives made by the Government of the National Unity to address human rights violations. The published material also includes reports, publications and studies related to human rights in Sudan. The project pays special attention to the crisis in Darfur, Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) implementation, democratic transition, child rights, women rights, political and civil rights, and economic, social and cultural rights in Sudan. It also opens window for Sudanese detainees in Guantanamo. The projected started in July 2007 and is still in progress.
