Director of Criminal Investigation Reveals EAPCCO Annual Meetings Recommendations

Khartoum – (Muawad Rashid–Najat Ahmed) Director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, Major General (Police), Hussien Nafie Mahmoud revealed to Sudan Vision the main points  of the recommendations of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) annual General Meeting which took place in Khartoum on 12th, September 2018 which was  participated by 14 African countries.
According to Maj. Gen. Hussien Nafie Mahmoud, the recommendations included – among other things – the upgrading of the cooperation mechanisms, capacity building and intensifying the joint operations, besides the activation of criminal justice role in cooperation with police and other related institutions in implementing the law.
EAPCCO conference recommended supporting the regional anti-criminal activities especially terrorism, besides exchanging the intelligence information, its trends through the methods of the Interpol.
The evaluation of the future threats and setting the appropriate strategies to deal with all types of crime is also one of the recommendations of the conference.
The conference urged the member states to exchange training programmes to upgrade the capabilities of police forces in the region, besides coordination among all the regional agencies to curb human trafficking along with setting the legal frames to curb it.
