SSC participates in the UN Human Rights Council’s session

The Society Studies Center (SSC) participated in the 31st session of the Human Right Council in the period from 29th Feb. – 24th March 2016.
The Center presented a statement on the negative impact of sanctions on the enjoyment of the economic and political rights by the people of Sudan. The Center also held a symposium at the UN Palace of Nations, Geneva on the 18th of March 2016 on the impact of the sanctions on development in Sudan. The forum was addressed by several Sudanese and foreign specialists before an extensive audience including European human rights activists who confirmed that such sanctions are unilaterally imposed and called upon the international community to encounter the United States policy on the issue.
On the sidelines of the symposium, the Center’s delegation met with the office of Mr. Idriss Jazairy the Special Rapporteur on the same issue where the Center’s delegation confirmed readiness to provide the Office with all information and statistics related to the impact of the measures prior to the date fixed for delivering the report of the rapporteur.
